My name is Laura Mazza-Dixon. I am the great-granddaughter of Dr. Henry Mansfield and his wife Mabelle, the grandaughter of Laura Helen Mansfield Davis and the daughter of Maralyn Davis Mansfield.
I remember meeting Bob and Phyllis at Sandy River Beach years ago, and posssibly also rented their cottage there. But most importantly, I have been piggybacking on the genealogical research that Robert did for his wife's family in Maine. I found this obituary just tonight, or I would have tried to attend the graveside ceremony in June.
I knew the chances were slim that Robert might still be alive, but I am still saddened at the news of his death. He did a yeoman's job working with Leonard Tibbetts to recontruct the generations of Mansfields that originated on Chebeague Island and come to Downeast Maine. If there are any relatives in my generation, or in my mother's who are interested in helping us continue his genealogical work, please contact me at mazdxn@aol.com. My mother and I presented a lecture on 500 years of ansfield Family History at the Jonesport Historical Society two years ago and I am now in the process of writing a genealogy on the Descendants of Edward Augustus Mansfield.
All of the Leonard Tibbett's papers are available through the Jonesport Historical Society in electronically scanned format on. Some of them are letters that he and Robert exchanged as they tried to verify connections within the Mansfield Genealogy. My mother's cousin, Bonnie Slager, has written to Robert as well, over the years, and she, my mother and I , and other family members, will be in Jonesport for a service for her husband Hank Slager on August 15th, 2015
I have been seeing Robert Anderson's name again and again as I do this research. I almost feel as though I have been working alongside him and am very sorry to have come so close to meeting him and then to have missed him.
Sending my love and prayers to all the family. May your hearts be blessed with the peace that passes all understanding.
Love,
Laura Mazza-Dixon
