On Sandy River Beach

We met Andy and his family at Sandy River Beach in Jonesport, Maine, when I was a teenager.  Actually, I met Bill first.  We were both there with our famiies, and, since teens come well equipped with teen radar, Bill and I became aware of each other walking the beach. Later our folks met and the families became occassional beach friends. I believe it was that same summer I headed off to church camp, Pilgrim Lodge, and, lo and behold, there was Bill, so, another connection. When we moved from Bangor to Iowa, we spent a night with the Andersons in, I think, Pennsylvania. Andy and Phyllis exchanged Christmas cards with my parents for some years after that.

I always remember Andy (and Phyllis) as  friendly, welcoming, and kind.  I loved that they named their cottage at Jonesport "Dad's Dream".  That made so much sense to me, as having a cottage on that beach was/is a dream of, I suspecy MANY people.  I can imagine the peace Andy found at Dad's Dream, which was nestled in the trees, the constant ocean and islands visible out the front window.  I hope he has found even greater peace now.

Our thoughts go back to this friend and his family.  May all be well.

In sympathy,

Deborah Coupal Rozeboom
