Man of great character

I grew up in the same neighborhood as Mike. He was a bit older than I, but I remember him and the rest of the Carlson clan well. Early in the 90's, I was lucky enough to spend some great  times with him. He, Stoney and I went diving for sea urchins for a couple  very cold winters. I remember coffee and breakfast with him at Stoney's before the sun came up and we started our day. Mike would always make me laugh. I remember in particular the cold, cold, cold winter's water. Stoney and I in drysuits and Mike,.. he was in a wet suit. The water temps barely above freezing. He never let it slow him down. I can see him shivering, lips blue, standing in the hot water tank on the boat between dives trying to  fight off the hypothermia. He was as tough as tough ever gets. I am honored to have had these times with Mike.  It is really wonderful to see that in his life, he was part of and created such a wonderful, loving family.  My heart goes out to his entire family and all of his close friends. God Bless Michael James Connors Carlson.
