Twins Arnold Johnson of Groveland and Donald Johnson of Haverhill (boyhood friends of Ed and fellow sailors) recall their first ski trip ever to the mountains around 1942 when they were in high school. Ed, Bud Smith, and the twins arrived at Belknap Ski Area, now known as Gunstock, only to find the lifts closed because there were no other skiers. They persuaded someone to start the chairlift (a single) just for them. It was a great day on the slopes! Donald and Shirley Johnson fondly remember when Ed was a member of their wedding party sixty years ago today on March 16th. Ed leaves a wealth of good memories for many of us.
