Obituary for Mary G Vanorse

Mary G  Vanorse
ROCKLAND - Mary G. Vanorse, 80, died unexpectedly, Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at Maine Medical Center in Portland.
Born December 21, 1927 in Rockland, she was the daughter of John and Vita Rizzuto Giustiniano of Rockland and Salemi, Sicily, Italy. Mary attended Rockland schools.
For many years she was employed by M&G Sportswear in Rockland. She also worked at Van Baalens, retiring in 1990.
Mary was an avid Red Sox fan and also an avid reader. She enjoyed embroidery. Mary was a communicant of St. Bernard's Catholic Church.
Predeceased by a brother Anthony J. Gustin, a nephew John H. Kirk; two brothers-in-law, Robert Darling and Ken Drinkwater; Mary is survived by her husband of 59 years Albert L. Vanorse; a son David Vanorse and his wife Nancy of Rockland; two daughters, Maryjane Rytky and her husband Bill, Donna Culbertson and her husband David all of Rockland; three granddaughters whom she loved dearly and was very proud, Bethany Vanorse, Heidi Vanorse, Katy Vanorse all of Rockland; one great-granddaughter, Natalie Vanorse; three sisters Marianna Munro and her husband Sidney of Ruskin, Florida, Frances Drinkwater of Camden, and Jo Darling of Stamford, Connecticut; as well as several "favorite" nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to visit from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., with prayers at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, July 27, 2008 at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 28, 2008 at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, 150 Broadway, Rockland. The Reverends Mark Reinhardt and Dianne Easdon will officiate. Private interment will be at Coughlin Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Humane Society of Knox County, P.O. Box 1294, Rockland, Maine.
