ROCKLAND - Louise Margaret (Seavey) Pietroski, 93, of Rockland, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2016 at the Sussman House in Rockport.

Born November 11, 1922 in Rockland, she was the daughter and youngest child of Walter and Marie Laura (McNeil) Seavey. Her grandparents were Alva and Abbie Lurvey Seavey and Roderick and Ella McNeil.
Louise was a life-long resident of Rockland. She worked while going to high school at Senter Crane’s Department Store in Rockland to help her father care for her mother. Following her graduation in 1941 from Rockland High School, Louise was employed at the Mobil Oil Depot in Rockland.

On December 30, 1943, Louise married the love of her life, Joseph John Pietroski, Sr. Louise became a homemaker and stay-at-home mom following the birth of her first child, Joseph Jr., in 1947. She was a wonderful and caring mother and grandmother to her four sons and 11 grandchildren. Louise adored her two great-grandsons, Kaleb and Eli, and thoroughly enjoyed their visits.

Louise has been a wonderful influence on her children and grandchildren. She emphasized the importance of family, faith, and caring for others. In the mid 1950’s, Louise learned to drive so that her children and their friends would have a ride to Catechism classes at St. Bernard’s; to participate in Little League and Babe Ruth, high school sports including baseball, basketball, and football, as well as debate, speech, and theater activities. She also made sure her sons had transportation to swimming at the YMCA in Camden and skiing at the Camden Snowbowl. With her husband, they attended hundreds of events involving their sons including many of their college activities.

After her husband’s retirement, they enjoyed traveling throughout the country, frequently visiting with friends and Joe’s brothers and sisters and their families.

A life-long communicant of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Louise and her husband volunteered for over 16 years in the church’s soup kitchen.

Predeceased by her devoted husband of over 72 years, Joseph John Pietroski, Sr. on July 24, 2016; her three siblings, Dorothy Seavey Thayer, Virginia Seavey, and Walter John Seavey; Louise is survived by sons, Joseph Pietroski, Jr. and his wife Doris of Winthrop, Donald Pietroski and his wife Anne of Thomaston, Robert Pietroski and his wife Laurie of Falmouth, John Pietroski and his life partner Donna Walsh of Strong; her grandchildren, Peter, Matthew, Brian, Kara and her husband Jake Hall, Kristin, Andrew and his wife Angela, Jenny, Molly, Michael and his fiancé Melissa Breton, Thomas and Daniel; and great grandchildren, Kaleb and Elias Joseph. Louise is also survived by many nieces and nephews, as well as special friends, Virginia ‘Ginny’ Gross, Barbara Smalley, and Vera Pine.

Louise will be surrounded in Heaven by those who love her including her husband, her siblings, friends, parents and grandparents who have gone before her. She will be remembered, but severely missed, by those remaining here on Earth.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 150 Broadway in Rockland. A reception will follow in the parish hall.
