Condolence: I came across this obituary more than a year after the fact. My heartfelt sympathies are with you, Kathleen. I have so many fond memories of our friendship at Time Inc. and beyond. Michael was one of the finest and wittiest people I have known in my life. I am so sorry for your loss. With much love, John.

Condolence: Michael's kindness and wit made my year teaching in the English Dept. at Robert College a good one. We shared a love for literature and for travel. I will feel his absence from my map of the world.

Condolence: Our condolences to the family. I always enjoyed English with Mr. Drons. I always remember his comment regarding an oral book report we had to give stating that I was to relaxed, like speaking at a bar. I said I was to young to go into a bar....God love him. He was a great teacher.

Condolence: Mike and I roomed together at Boston College in our Freshman Year, 1959.

Condolence: Michael Drones - He demonstrated in his life the objectives of a
wonderful individual who made a difference in his life and shared
it with others. He will never be forgotten!

I am sorry for his loss along with many others who knew him, for a
moment, an hour, a day and the years and days of his goodwill and
generosity to all the people he came in contact with.

Condolence: I was saddened to read of Mike's passing. He was such an intelligent man but so easy to chat with. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Condolence: Mike was my English teacher at McQuaid in my senior year, 1968. Much more memorable than any class were the hours and hours outside the classroom that MIke shared his guidance and friendship with a group of us students. He was the most influential teacher I had in high school. He supported me in getting into the college of my choice. After graduation he wrote to me of some of his travels. We lost touch but I have never forgotten him. Even as a very young teacher he was a special guy. My condolences to his family.

Condolence: We will truly miss Michael's intellect and wisdom and his ability make things happen! His dedication to the activities and projects at the Spruce Head Community Hall will always be remembered and we will move forward in his honor!

Condolence: I don't know how I would have managed without Michael. He welcomed me to Maine so warmly, and took such good care not just of my home, but of me. It was a privilege to know him, and a joy to hear all his stories of Maine and his travels around the world. My deepest sympathies to Kathy and all of his family, and to all of his many friends, for the loss of such a wonderful man.
