Obituary for Merton David Allyn Jr.

CAMDEN - M. David Allyn, 78, died Thursday, March 3, 2016, at the Sussman House in Rockport, after an extended illness.
Born in Caribou, August 3, 1937, he was the son of M. David, Sr. and Elizabeth MacDonald Allyn. He was educated in Caribou schools.
David served four years with the U. S. Navy, where he developed a love of the ocean. He served primarily aboard the USS Carpellotti, with duty that he described as wonderful; sailing winters in the Caribbean and summers in the Mediterranean.
Upon honorable discharge from Naval duty, David moved to Rockland, where he pursued his love of the water as a Commercial Fisherman. He worked in that industry more than 30 years.
Other than his parents, David was pre-deceased by his wife of 44 years, Esther A. Jones Allyn in 2006. He is survived by one son Eric E. Allyn of Rockland; one step-daughter Cheri Connor and her husband Edward of Boynton Beach, FL; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Private arrangements are in the care of Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland. To share a memory or condolence with David’s family, please visit his Book of Memories at www.bchfh.com.
