Obituary for Mark Aaron Boynton Jr.

Mark Aaron Boynton Jr.
ROCKLAND - Mark A. Boynton, Jr., 25, died unexpectedly, Saturday, June 13, 2015 at Maine Medical Center in Portland.

Born in Millinocket, July 31, 1989, he was the son of Billi-Jo Robbins and Mark Boynton, Sr. Known affectionately by his family as ‘Markie’, he was educated locally, and was a 2008 graduate of Rockland District High School. Following high school, Mark attended Maine Maritime Academy for two years.

Most recently, Mark has been known as one of the liveliest bartenders at Cappy’s Chowder House in Camden. His bright smile and vivacious personality drew people to him almost immediately. It has been said that Mark ‘lived in the moment.’ He was outgoing and spontaneous and lived every moment of life to the fullest. He was truly a free spirit.

Mark loved to be outdoors, especially hiking, fishing and camping. Nothing thrilled him more than to sit around a good campfire, only after stoking it as high as he could, of course. Everything Mark touched, and every activity with Mark became an adventure.

He also loved to cook, always making sure to present the most unique and extravagant dishes he could come up with.

Mark was most happy when he was with the love of his life, his fiancé, Ivana. He was proud to have taken the trip of a lifetime to visit her in Slovakia for five weeks. Together they enjoyed traveling the countryside and especially hiking through the mountains. Recently engaged, the two were excited to be planning their life together.

Mark touched more lives in his 25 short years than many people do in a lifetime. His family felt it was important that everyone who loved him know, although he is gone, he continues to deeply affect the lives of others with his gift of life through organ donations.

Mark will be sadly missed by his fiancé Ivana Polackova of Slovakia; his mother Billi-Jo Robbins and her partner Steve Richardson of South Thomaston; his father Mark Boynton and his wife Dawn of Millinocket; his step-father Mark Jacobs of Millinocket; his brother Thomas Boynton of Rockland; sister Josee Boynton of Millinocket; step-sisters, Alyssa Jacobs of Portland, Haley Richardson of Rockland, Heather Rae Murphy of Ft. Myers, FL; step-brother Steven Richardson, III of South Thomaston; his grandparents, Kirk and Mary Rideout of Rockland, Mary Jacobs of Millinocket; uncles, Paul Robbins and his wife Ivory, Ryan Robbins and his wife Dawn, Wally Boynton, Steve Jacobs and his wife Jaime all of Millinocket; aunts, Gay Dickinson and her fiancé Kent Waite of East Millinocket, Kathy Jacobs of China; several cousins; his best friends Ian Dillinger, Jackson Feener, Gordon Knowlton, Adam Niemeyer and many many more. He also had a special place in his heart for his beloved pets, his cat Hiro and his dog Tucker. Mark was predeceased by his grandmother, Mary Boynton; and grandfathers, George A. Robbins, Walton Boynton, Don Devoe, and Vern Jacobs.

Family and friends are invited to visit from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Thursday, June 18, 2015 at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland. A celebration of his life will be held at 3:00 PM, Friday, June 19, 2015 at West Rockport Baptist Church, Park Street, West Rockport. The Reverend David English will officiate.

Those who wish may make memorial donations in his name to Ocean Side High School Football Program, c/o Oceanside East, 400 Broadway, Rockland, Maine 04841.
