Frances L.  Thompson
ROCKLAND - Frances Stanley Murray, 96, passed away Friday, February 6, 2015 at Knox Center for Long Term Care, following a brief illness.

Born in St. George, March 22, 1918, she was the daughter of Oscar and Ethel Wilson Stanley. Frances grew up in St. George and attended schools there. She was a Charter lifetime member of the Martinsville Grange. She also enjoyed cooking, knitting, and working in her flower gardens. Frances took great pleasure in attending family outings.

Frances is survived by her son, James W. Murray and his wife Linda of Rockport; her daughter Linda J. Therberge of Plymouth, MA; daughter-in-law Susie Murray of South Carolina, wife of deceased son, Richard Murray, III; her siblings, Edna Carter of Thomaston, Vernon Stanley and his wife Doreen of Tenants Harbor, Ann Wallace and her husband Raymond of Thomaston; grandchildren Diane Gushee and her husband Daniel of Rockland, Cathy Lawrence and her husband Russell of South Thomaston, Barbara Murray and her fiancé William Orne of Rockland, Allison Tufts and her husband Patrick of Auburn, NY, Michael Therberge and his wife Tami of Cambridge, MA, Dr. Amy Therberge Plante and her husband Dr. Greg Plante of Medford, MA, Richard Murray, IV and his wife Colleen of PA, Lisa Murray Knop and her husband Gregory of South Carolina; 19 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband Richard E. Murray, II; second husband Maynard Thompson; son Richard E. Murray, III; her brothers, Norman, Carlton, Dwinal, Clyde, Arnold, Cecil and Maurice; and her sisters, Verita, June and Emma.

Per Frances’ wishes, she will be cremated and a private graveside ceremony will take place in the spring.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Knox Center for Long Term Care, 22 White Street, Rockland, Maine 04841.

Frances’ family would like to say a special ‘Thank You’ to Laurie Miller and the staff at Knox Center for the care and support in her time of need.
