Obituary for Noel C. Robinson

ROCKLAND - Noel C. Robinson, 46, died Sunday, January 4, 2015, at the Sussman House in Rockport, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born at Vinalhaven, December 17, 1968, he was the son of Freeman C., Jr. and Lauretta Carter Robinson. He was educated in Vinalhaven schools and completed his senior year at Deer Isle / Stonington High School. He was a valued member of the basketball teams at both high schools.
On June 12, 2010, he married Suzette K. Geary at their home in Rockland.
As a teen, Noel began lobstering, and continued in that business much of his career. He fished out of Vinalhaven and Stonington, as well as fished aboard commercial seining vessels. In 2011, he began employment as a Corrections Officer at Maine State Prison in Warren, where he worked until retiring due to ill health.
Noel was devoted to his family and enjoyed puttering around his home. Fastidious about keeping his yard in perfect condition, Noel could often be found mowing and leaf blowing his lawn, whether it needed mowing or not.
He enjoyed spending time with his lifelong friends, Robert ‘BeSha’ Oakes, David ‘Bundy’ Anthony, Timmy ‘TuTu’ Brown and Jeffrey ‘Blasey’ Osgood.
Pre-deceased by his father, Noel is survived by his mother Lauretta of Rockland; his wife Suzette of Rockland; his daughters Liliana Noelle Robinson of Rockland and Kristina Kaye Oakes of Bangor; two brothers, Brett Robinson and his wife Lauren of Massachusetts, Flinn Robinson of Auburn; two sisters, April DeMatteo and her husband Dan of Alabama, Lacey Robinson and her companion Lawrence Sanborn of Vinalhaven; his parents-in-law, William T., Sr. and Katherine Geary of Rockland; as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, January 10, 2015, at Pleasant River Chapel, Round the Island Road, Vinalhaven. Interment will be private. A reception will follow the service at the home of Burke and Linda Lynch. In lieu flowers memorial donations may be made to the Maine Cancer Foundation, 170 U.S. Route One, Suite 250, Falmouth, ME 04105. Arrangements are in the care of Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock St., Rockland.
