Obituary for Annette E. "Tootie" Stone (Johnson)

OWLS HEAD - Annette “Tootie” Stone, 53, died Thursday October 16, 2014 at Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport, after a 2 year battle with cancer.
Born in Thomaston, July 17, 1961, she was the daughter of Alfred Mason, Jr. and Dorothy A. Whitten Johnson. Growing up in Thomaston, Tootie was educated in local schools and graduated from Georges Valley High School in 1979. Following high school Tootie worked on the family’s farm and also at the Thomaston Agway. In 1982, Tootie married her high school sweetheart, Charles E. Stone III. Following their marriage, Charles and Tootie built their home in Owls Head where she lived the rest of her life. In 1988, Charles and Tootie had their first child, Kristi and six years later in 1994, their son, Travis. After the birth of their two children, Tootie devoted her life to raising her family. The family summered on Criehaven, which became a beloved place for Tootie. She truly loved the island lifestyle and became very close to the island residents, considering them her second family. Once the kids were older Tootie decided it was time to go back to work and took a job within the local school system. She enjoyed working in the kitchens at the schools and made many close friends with fellow co-workers and enjoyed interacting with students.
