Obituary for Marion N. Wall (McDermott)

CAMDEN - Marion N. Wall, 91, died June 16, 2014 at Quarry Hill Retirement Community, after a brief illness. Born in Rockland, November 18, 1922, she was the youngest of three sisters, the late Neva Bennett Harden and the late Alma McDermott Thompson, all daughters of Leroy McDermott and Mary Robbins McDermott. Marion grew up in Camden and attended Camden schools graduating from Camden High School in 1939.

Marion considered her greatest vocation to be that of wife, mother and grandmother. She lived many years in Braintree, Massachusetts where she and her husband the late Allan Warren Wall raised their three boys. She is remembered for her gracious hospitality, her thoughtfulness in gift giving, and her special love and care of her children and grandchildren. She was unassuming and volunteered many hours at her church, hospitals, and with the Crittendon Women’s Union.

Predeceased by her husband of sixty-nine years, Warren, and her son Allan, who died in 1972, Marion is survived by her sons, Douglas and his wife, Janet of Harrison, and Robert and his wife Ruth of Appleton; and a daughter-in-law, Hannah Wall White of Pennsylvania. She will be missed by her loving grandchildren, Christopher Wall, Kimberly Wall Golub, Jeffrey Wall, Andrew Wall, Miranda Wall and Daniel Wall; her great-grandsons, Isaac and Alden Golub, Benjamin and Alex Wall, Henry and Ellis Wall and Eamon and Marlowe Wall; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at Quarry Hill for their gift of love, care and compassion.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Sunday, August 3, 2014, at Rockville Cemetery, Route 17, Rockport. The Reverend Regina Knox will officiate. A reception will follow at Burpee, Carpenter and Hutchins Funeral Home’s Funeral Home’s 104 Limerock reception facility.
