Obituary for Neil Oliver Overlock

Neil Oliver Overlock
WARREN - Neil Oliver Overlock, 76, died Saturday, August 11, 2012, in the comfort of his home, following a long battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis.
Born in Thomaston, December 6, 1935, he was the son of Elmer M. and Rachel Libby Overlock. Educated in local schools he was a graduate of Thomaston High School.
After high school, except for his time in the Army, Neil worked as a logger until 1982. In 1977, Neil and his wife bought Norwoods Hardware, located in Warren village. They moved that business into a new building, for which Neil cut the wood, at it’s present Rt. 90 location. With the help of Glen Curtis and Ernest Castner, Neil built that building. Never one to be status quo, he added space to the store several times, until he retired in 1995.
From then on he spent time in his woods and blueberry fields. His wife did make him leave his ‘woods’ to take trips to see most of this great country.
Neil became a crafter of many pieces of furniture, which now reside with many of his family and friends.
Neil was pre-deceased by his brother Leland and this year by two sisters, Marion Grover and Charlotte Stambaugh. Other than his wife of 50 years, Sandra Stetson Overlock of Warren, Neil is survived by his daughter, Kelly and her husband Brad Robbins of Waldoboro; two sons, Kris Overlock, Kyle Overlock and his wife Dawn all of Warren; six grandchildren, Mallory and Calvin Robbins, Tyler and Delaney Overlock, Olivia and Garrett Overlock; a sister, Estelle Ames of Cushing; nephew David Smith of Cushing; special friends Clayton Winchenbach and Gary Clarke; as well as many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of his Life will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 pm., Saturday, August 25, 2012, in the dining room of Second Congregational Church, Main Street in Warren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Kno-Wal-Lin Homecare and Hospice, 170 Pleasant Street, Rockland, ME 04841, or you are encouraged to plant a tree.
