Bruce Gerald  Rolfe, Jr.
WALDOBORO – Bruce G. Rolfe, Jr., 65, died unexpectedly, Saturday, April 21, 2012, while fishing with his son at the Public Landing in Camden.

Born in Rockport, January 1, 1947, he was the son of Bruce G., Sr., and Mabel Marshall Rolfe. When he was four, his mother married Harold W. Smith. In earlier years, his family moved to North Waldoboro and later to Waldoboro, where Bruce attended local schools and Waldoboro High School.

On September 10, 1971, he married Cynthia G. Cotton in Nobleboro.

Over the years he worked at various jobs including, a tractor-trailer long haul driver, pulp truck operator and clam harvester. His favorite and most fulfilling job was more than 20 years service as First Mate aboard the charter vessels, ‘The Shamrock’, with Captain Bill Gargan, out of Spruce Head, and later ‘The Henrietta’, with Captain John Earl, out of Rockland.

He was an avid hunter, trapper and fisherman. Bruce enjoyed fishing and camping trips up north with his brother, Warren.

His family said that he loved being outside and on the water, but whenever he was home, he was an avid reader. He particularly enjoyed family gatherings, birthday celebrations and the holidays.

Besides his wife Cindy of Waldoboro, Bruce is survived by his step-father, Harold Smith of Bangor, three sons, Michael G. Rolfe and his fiancé Diane Flaherty, Bruce G. Rolfe, III and his wife Laurie, Harold W. Rolfe and his companion Christina Dow all of Waldoboro; two daughters, Angela M. Motyka and her husband Richard of Union, Bonnie G. Smith and her husband Troy of Waldoboro; one brother Warren Rolfe and his companion Cathy Simpson of Dixmont, a step-brother William Smith of Colorado; four grandchildren, Kevin, Cristal and Kelly Motyka, and Alyssa Smith; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

An informal celebration of life gathering will begin at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, May 5th, at the home of Bonnie and Troy Smith, 221 Kalers Corner Road, Waldoboro.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 51 U.S. Route One, Scarborough, ME 04074.
