Lawrence 'butch' Curit, Sr. Obituary (1947

GRAVESIDE COMMITTAL SERVICE - A graveside service with Military Honors will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 14, 2011 at West Rockport Cemetery. APPLETON - Lawrence S. 'Butch' Curit, Sr., 63, died Friday, January 28, 2011, at Veterans Administration Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, with his brother and sister at his side.Born in Camden, May 14, 1947, he was the son of Lawrence Sheldon and Phyllis M. Burridge Curit. Educated in local schools, he was a 1967 graduate of Camden High School.After graduating, Butch enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served four years.Returning to civilian life, he worked several years with his brother Bruce and later with several area painting contractors. In more recent years, he worked for Jeff Weymouth, running the Suds-R-Us Car Wash in Camden. He also worked at Fisher Engineering and most recently with The Harley Company Landscaping.He enjoyed the outdoors with his dog 'Tammie', who was his constant companion, boating in the summer, and hunting with his son.Pre-deceased by his mother, father, and a great niece Stephanie Hall, Butch is survived by one son Lawrence 'BJ', Jr. and his wife Jamie of Warren; two daughters, Priscilla Curit of Hope, Christy Mitchell of Unity; one brother, Bruce Curit and his wife Sally of Camden; one sister, Nancy DeVore and her husband Peter of Shapleigh; a very special lady in his life and the mother of his children, Peggy Curit of Hope; three grandchildren, Sadie Curit, Lily Mae Curit and Wayne Mitchell, Jr.; many nieces and nephews; a special aunt Edith Crosby and a cousin Crissy, both of Connecticut.Friends and relatives are invited to visit from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, February 4, 2011, at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland, where a service will follow at 7:00 p.m. Butch's cousin, Richard Wellman, will officiate.
