John Donald LeRoy Young

–

Rockland, Maine

ROCKPORT - John Donald LeRoy Young Jr., 54, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport.
Born November 6, 1967, in Rockland at the former Knox Hospital to Judy Shorey and John Donald LeRoy Young Sr., he was educated in local schools and was a graduate of Rockland High School, class of 1986.
John was a dedicated, hard worker, and even swore he would work until the day he died. He was a truck driver for many years, and later, for a brief time in 2011, he ran Thomaston Taxi. This included car detailing with his brother Alden behind the Thomaston Police Station.
For the past seven years, John had been working for Interstate Septic, where his work mates quickly became his family.
Many came to know John as a quirky man with a dry sense of humor. He also had an odd sense of charm about him. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and taking trips with friends. John often reveled about his trip to Alaska with one of his childhood friends and dreamed of going back. The cold, however, was a big deterrent to fulfilling that dream.
John will be deeply missed by his friends and family.
He is survived by his parents, Judy Robinson, John Young Sr. and his step-mother Kay Burgess; his children, Nicole Young, Dianna Young, and Matthew Young, his daughter in-law, Simone; his brothers, James and Alden, his sister in-law Holly; his step-siblings, Duane Withee, Theresa Withee, and Kara Mallicoate, Rob, Cindy, Chuck and Lily Mae; a half brother Kris Robinson and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on April 2, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Winslow-Holbrok-Merritt American Legion Post No. 1 at 335 Limerock Street, Rockland, Maine 04841.2d
