Jane Lee Waltz

WARREN - Jane Lee Goewey Waltz, 82, passed away peacefully at her home in Warren, Maine on October 29, 2023.
Jane was born on November 5, 1940 in New York City to Joseph and Helen Goewey. She graduated from Lansingburg High School and completed a Bachelor of Arts degrees from both the University of Connecticut and North Adams State College, as well as a Master's Degree in Arts and Education from Albany State College.
Jane went on to teach French at Hoosick Falls Central High School where she met her future husband and best friend, Mark Waltz. The couple were married in Brunswick, New York on July 3, 1965. Jane was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Her major interests were encouraging her children in their goals and helping them achieve happiness in their lives.
Jane made many fond memories that are shared with her children and grandchildren. She loved organizing activities and playing games with her children and grandchildren. Jane also worked as a librarian at the Town of Warren Library for many years. Jane's grandchildren always enjoyed visiting her at the library to spend time reading with her. She also volunteered in early childhood education preparing youngsters to enter kindergarten. She continued her interest in teaching by working part time in public and private schools.
Other interests included reading, gardening, hiking and boating. She was a member of the garden club in Warren, served as a deacon, and held offices in the women's organization at the Second Congregational Church. Jane also enjoyed the pet dogs that her family had through the years. The most recent dog, Nigel, was a constant companion and protector of Jane's, and was present with her and her family when she passed away. Jane will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Jane is survived by her husband Mark of Warren; her two children, Joseph Waltz of Warren and Merle (Waltz) Younkin of Virginia Beach, VA; her four grandchildren, Chris and Brett Younkin of Virginia Beach, VA and Elizabeth and Kristen Waltz of Rochester, New York. They were the center of her life. Jane's nephews are Mark Waltz (Carol) of Topsham, Maine and Ned Waltz (Karin) of Gig Harbor, Washington. Jane's niece is Martha (Waltz) DiDomenico (Rick) of West Lebanon, NH.
Jane was predeceased by her brother-in-law Dr. Miles Waltz and his wife Louise Waltz formerly of North Conway, NH.
A graveside committal service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, November 2, 2023 at Sawyer Cemetery in Warren. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at the Second Congregational Church of Warren where Jane was a member.
