UNION – Faye R. Calderwood, 92, died peacefully at home on Friday, October 23, 2026, surrounded by the family she loved, with her beloved Celtics on the television nearby.
Faye was born in Camden on January 12, 1934, to R. Holman and Emma (Martin) Robbins. She grew up to graduate from Union High School in 1952 and went on to Fisher Junior College in Boston, graduating in 1954.
That same year, on September 19, she married Walter Elmer Calderwood in Union. Faye began her career as a secretary in the Rockland law office of Alan Bird and Samuel W. Collins Jr. She later became bookkeeper for Cutting-Allen Christmas Tree Farm of Union, before moving on to National Sea Products Inc., Shipyard Division, in Rockland. There she devoted over 16 years in the office. Before retiring, Faye also kept the books at Barker’s Garage in Union for six years.
For most of her adult life, Faye was a member of Peoples United Methodist Church in Union. Music was one of her great gifts, and she shared it freely on piano, organ, and accordion, making many friends along the way. In her early retirement, she volunteered once a month to play for residents at Camden Health Care Center and Knox Center for Long Term Care in Rockland. Above all, Faye treasured her family, and she was close to relatives of every age.
Faye was a devoted Boston Celtics fan who spent countless hours following her team. She kept careful notes of scores and stats, and she knew every player, past and present. It seems fitting that the Celtics were with her at the end.
Her warm smile, twinkle in her eye and the love in her heart will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Predeceased by her parents, Emma and Holman Robbins and her husband Walter Calderwood; Faye is survived by her son Randall N. Calderwood and wife Denise of Union; her daughter Ann Calderwood Remick and husband Peter of Bucksport; her grandchildren, Emily Calderwood of Union, Christopher Remick and his wife Krystin of Bucksport; her great-grandchildren, Colby of Union, and Brody and Brooklyn of Bucksport.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 12, 2026 at the Union Masonic Hall, 149 Sennebec Road, Union, Maine. Faye will be laid to rest privately beside her husband at Lakeview Cemetery, Union.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either, the Union Masonic Lodge, 149 Sennebec Road, Union; or Peoples United Methodist Church of Union, 21 Depot Street, Union, ME 04862.
