ROCKLAND - Diana M. Lothrop, 78 died peacefully, Friday, October 6, 2023 at the Sussman Hospice House, following a brief but courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer.
Born in Rockland, November 8, 1944 she was the daughter of Leroy 'Whitey' and Beverly Harmon Lothrop. Educated locally, she was in the last class to graduate from the old Rockland High School on Lincoln Street in 1962. She was a lifelong resident of Rockland and for the past 38 years she has resided at the Stella Maris House.
During her junior year in high school, Diana began working for First National Grocery Store, continuing her employment there until that store closed in 1983. Next she went to work for Ames Department Store, working there for over 13 years. Throughout her life, Diana had many operations, however she was always a hard worker, and continued working until 1997.
She was always active and especially enjoyed bowling, even serving as captain of her own team, the 'Super Rollers' for many years.
She was a member of the former Pratt Memorial Methodist Church, now Alders Gate Methodist Church. She enjoyed making cards for the sick, as she was very crafty. She also made many beautiful scrapbooks of the activities and residence of Stella Maris.
Predeceased by her mother and father; her grandparents; one half-sister Barbara Chaffee and one half-brother, Richard; Diana is survived by her brother Linwood Lothrop and his wife Rebecca Smith Lothrop of Rockland; one nephew Michael Lothrop and his wife Kelly of Raymond, NH; one niece, Jennifer Lothrop Curtis and her husband Zach Curtis and their children, Jacob and Gabrielle. Diana had precious fur baby 'Zoe' and the late 'Morty'.
Special Thanks to her many friends at Stella Maris; as well as her close friends, Fran Miller and her daughter Debby, Brad Wiley, Carol Eustis; and her new friend and neighbor, Marcia Fisher and her brother Austin Childs.
