Obituary for Jon H. Ross

OWLS HEAD - Jon H. Ross, 70, died Wednesday, April 6, 2011, at Anderson Inn, Quarry Hill, in Camden, after a long illness.
Born in Owls Head, August 20, 1940, he was the son of Walter E. and Amanda H. Ross. Jon was educated in Owls Head and Rockland schools and was a 1958 honors graduate of Rockland High School. That fall he attended the Arts Center College in Pasadena, California.
He later served in the United States Air Force.
Painting in oils since the age of seven, as his art skills progressed, Jon took lessons from Flora Cullen at the Farnsworth Museum of Art in Rockland.
Jon was ultimately recognized as an Artist in his own rite, creating works from what he called, "Shore Things". These works included stone, driftwood, and lobster shell creations. He was a regular contributor to arts & craft shows throughout Maine.
Other than his parents, Jon was predeceased by two brothers, Peter B. Ross in 1998 and Charles E. Ross in 2005. He is survived by two brothers, Clifton W. Ross and Edward F. "Ted" Ross, both of Owls Head; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private services are in the care of Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Owls Head.
