Obituary for Mark A. Zeiner

Mark A.  Zeiner
SPRUCE HEAD - Mark Austin Zeiner, 52, formerly of Kennebunkport, passed away June 10, 2006 due to complications of Type One Diabetes at his parent's home, surrounded by his family.
Born in Portland, March 20, 1954, he was the son of Charles H. and Dorcas Eldridge Zeiner.
Educated in Kennebunkport schools, Mark went on to work with the Maine Turnpike Authority, Tom's of Maine, as an apprentice plumber and sternman.
From the age of 13, Marks struggled with diabetes, yet despite many obstacles always had a strong will to live.
His family remembers him as a kind, compassionate, loving, son, brother and friend.
He especially loved his dogs, Betty, Boomer and Styx who all pre-deceased him. Mark loved to hunt, fish, garden and sit in front of a campfire.
Mark is survived by his parents of Spruce Head, two sisters Lorrie Larson and her husband Ron of Rockland, Kelly Zeiner and her husband Ernest Piper, III of Anchorage, Alaska; one brother Charles F. "Chip" Zeiner and his partner Karen Andrews of Kennebunkport; nieces and nephews including Josh Miller and his wife Jasmine of Tenants Harbor, Clint Miller of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Ernie, Jari and Eliot Piper of Anchorage, Alaska, Lauren, Alexandra and Samuel of Kennebunkport; as well as one great-niece Sophia Bella Miller of Tenants Harbor.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, June 15, 2006 at South Congregational Church, Temple Street, Kennebunkport.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Animal Welfare Society, Inc., P.O. Box 43, West Kennebunk, ME 04094.
