Obituary for Naomi V. Ingraham

Naomi V.  Ingraham
AUGUSTA - Naomi V. Ingraham, 74, died Friday, April 18, 2003 at Augusta Rehabilitation Center, after a brief illness.
Born in Rockland, December 27, 1928, she was the daughter of Reginald H., Sr. and Theresa Lorraine Withington. Educated in Rockland schools, she was a 1946 graduate of Rockland High School. As a high school student, she worked with New England Telephone Company and after graduating began full time employment as an Operator at the Rockland N.E.T. office.
She was later promoted to Supervisor and in 1956, moved to the Augusta office as Assistant Chief Operator.
On July 19, 1958, she married Malcolm Henry Ingraham at Rockport. Mrs. Ingraham resided since that time with her husband in Augusta.
Moving to New England Telephone Company's Gardiner office, she continued as Assistant Chief Operator until being promoted to Chief Operator. Due to the closing of local phone offices, she transferred back to the Augusta office, where she worked as a Sales Representative. The final years of her career were served at the phone company's Portland office, until her retirement in 1982, following 36 years service.
Mrs. Ingraham enjoyed tole painting, ceramics and cooking. She took particular pleasure in sunbathing and loved to dive into the water from the highest point she could find. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.
Besides her husband of Augusta, Mrs. Ingraham is survived by her brother, Reginald H. Withington, Jr. of Bangor, her sister, Martha W. Newmeyer of SanDiego, CA; a sister-in-law Jeanette Withington of Bangor; one cousin Ione Estes of San Fransisco; many nieces and nephews including great grand nieces and nephews and her 15 year old Siamese cat, "Mothers Love", also known as "Sneakers".
Visiting hours will be held from noon to 2:00 p.m. with a service at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 22, at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland. Interment will follow at Achorn Cemetery, Old County Road, Rockland.
Memorial donations may be made to Maine Cancer Research Foundation, P.O. Box 553, Portland, ME 04112. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
