Condolence From: Rainey Davis
Condolence: Dear Stahl family:
I can only echo Rod's comments- I played bridge twice with her-
she overcame her initial nervousness and we had a fun time,
so we did it again, and I was looking forward to more sessions.
I am so sorry for your loss, she was truly a delightful person to know.

Brian,

Thank you for returning my calls. My friends and I from “bridge” were very concerned when our “new friend” turned up missing --- in fact we did quite a bit of searching, the detail of which I won’t go into, but again, your call was very gracious considering the circumstances.

You and your family’s loss is not measurable, and you have my sincerest condolences!

I only knew your mother for four hours --- and her impact was instantly felt --- as was my loss, minuscule as it is compared to yours. She was joyous, entering into another phase of her (what I now know was a) many faceted life. She had just had a new haircut, which made her radiant. Here was a woman who had never played duplicate bridge, having the guts to come alone and accept the challenge of playing with and against complete strangers.

Brian, she called a friend of mine, responding to an ad in the local papers that we were sponsoring a day devoted to supporting a cure for Alzheimer’s. She decided to come, and eventually, over the last several weeks, played with 3 of us as partners, and competitively with, probably 40 other strangers. I believe she felt she had found a new outlet for her energy. We will miss her and what her friendship would have meant to us over time!
