FRIENDSHIP – Lorraine M. Duda, 87, died peacefully, Saturday, May 26, 2018 at Knox Center for Long Term Care in Rockland.

Born in Waldoboro, April 17, 1931, she was the daughter of Clarence and Myra Genthner Richards.
Throughout her life, Lorraine had a special relationship with her sister Helen. They were inseparable and spent many hours going to little league games, shopping and on lunch dates.

She was a caring person and was always taking care of others. She had a special place in her heart for children and never met one she didn’t like. Her family remembers her as an angel and a godsend for her help in times of need. For many years Lorraine served as the cook at Camp Friendship, a boys camp on Crotch Island. A hard worker her who life, Lorraine enjoyed caring for her home, even mowing her own lawn well into her 80’s.

On May 16, 1980, Lorraine married John Duda. Together they resided in Friendship until his passing in 2003.

Her family was thankful and grateful for the excellent loving care she received from the staff at Miles Memorial Hospital and the Knox Center for Long Term Care, Skilled Nursing Unit in her last days. They truly made her time special.

Predeceased by her husband John Duda; her brothers, Cyrus, James and Virgil Richards; sister Helen Wilshire; great-grandson Brendan Lash; and a son-in-law Wesley Lash; Lorraine is survived by her daughter Cindy Lash of Friendship; brother Douglas Richards; step-son: John Duda; grandchildren, Wesley Lash and his wife Taryn, Sean Lash and his wife Angie, David Lash and his wife Deborah; a brother-in-law Richard 'Dick' Wilshire; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Wyatt, Brooke, Bailey, Ian, Abigail; two step-great-grandchildren; step-grandchildren, Chris, Kirsten, Megan, Emily, Jeremy; and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 7, 2018 at Old Village Cemetery Friendship.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Medomak Valley Youth Football, Brendan Lash Memorial Fund, c/o Camden National Bank, 1768 Atlantic Highway, Waldoboro, ME 04572.

Arrangements are in the care of Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland.
