ROCKLAND – Marie D. Neville, 96, died peacefully, Friday, May 25, 2018 at the Sussman House in Rockport.

Born and raised in Irvington, New Jersey, Marie attended local schools and was a 1940 graduate of Irvington High School.

Following graduation, Marie worked as an operator with New Jersey Bell Telephone Company.

On November 23, 1946, she married James B. Neville. Together they made their first home in Montclair, NJ for a brief time. They later resided in Kenilworth, NJ until building their home in Clark where they raised their family.

In 1986 Marie moved to Whiting where she resided until moving to Rockland in March of 2010.
In the early 1960’s Marie took up oil and watercolor painting, ultimately becoming an accomplished artist. While living in New Jersey she was a member of the Crestwood Art Club in Whiting. She appreciated beauty all around her, and took great joy in flower gardening.

She was an active member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Whiting, NJ and later at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Rockland.

Her family was very important to her, and most recently she enjoyed spending time with her great-grandsons on a weekly basis. She will be sadly missed.

Marie is survived by her daughter, Nancy Angelos of Rockland; her son, James Neville and his wife Linda of Springfield, NJ; her grandchildren, Megan Angelos and her husband Chris Brewer of Brunswick, ME; David Angelos and his wife Ania of Vero Beach, FL, Lisa Neville and her husband David Swanson, Jamie Neville her husband Anthony Fernandes, and Christopher Neville all of New Jersey; her great-grandchildren, Marcus Emanuel and Ezra James Brewer, and Sylvia James Fernandes; as well as nieces and nephews, Chris, Patty, Bill, Bob, and Ginny, and their spouses.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 4, 2018 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 150 Broadway, Rockland. The Reverend Robert Vaillancourt will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sussman House, c/o Pen Bay Healthcare Foundation, 22 White Street, Rockland, Maine 04841.

Arrangements are in the care of Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland.
