ROCKLAND – Doris A. Jacobson, 92, died peacefully, Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at Quarry Hill in Camden. Her loving family was at her side.

Born in St. George, March 7, 1926, she was the daughter of Edward and Sarah Johnson Chaples. Growing up in Martinsville she attended local schools until moving to Rockland, graduating from Rockland High School in 1944.

On January 19, 1946, Doris married Raymond Jacobson in Rockland. Together they made their home in St. George before moving to Rockland where she has since resided. As a young woman, Doris worked in the school kitchen and later at Ted’s Grocery.

Doris was an extremely talented crafter. She enjoyed and participated in countless craft fairs, and gave numerous gifts to her family. She took great joy in doll-making, quilting, sewing and crocheting.

In later years, Doris and Raymond enjoyed several winters in Florida, camping in their camper.

Doris’ greatest joy was her family. She was very proud of them and relished in the accomplishments of her great-grandchildren. She had a great sense of humor and knew when to laugh at herself. She will be sadly missed by all who loved her.

Predeceased by her husband Raymond Jacobson in 2014; her son Robert Jacobson in 2012; two brothers, and one sister; Doris is survived by her grandchildren, Jennifer Katz and her husband Michael of Mountain View, CA, Rachael Jones and her husband Matthew of Readfield, Michael Jacobson and his partner Jo-Ann Christian of Wales; her great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Noah and Ilana Jones, Olivia and Isla Katz; her daughter-in-law Patsy Jacobson of Augusta; her brother Byron Chaples of Plainville, CT; two nieces Joyce Young and Janice Kelley both of Rockland; and her special friends, Christine Merrill of Rockland, Donald and Margaret Hilt of Rockland, and Dan Shejen of Appleton.

Doris’ family has chosen to remember her life privately. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Achorn Cemetery.
