Donald was both a gentleman and a gentle man. I first met him through his wife, Pat, when I began working as a reporter in the Midcoast and she was serving on the SAD 28 school board. Don and I enjoyed many conversations about politics and other matters of interest whenever our paths crossed. Many times, we encountered each other outside the Rockland Post Office and he never failed to greet me with his bright smile and a handshake. He did a lot for his community and for those people whose lives were made just a bit better thanks to his work. His was, truly, a life well-lived. Peace. Michael McGuire
