Condolences & Tributes

We encourage you to share any memorable photos or stories about Ronald. All tributes placed on and purchased through this memorial website will remain on in perpetuity for future generations.

I drove by the old house in stow on Kingland just the other day. I thought about the old cars Ron and his son (my best friend st the time) William would work on. Some of my fondest memories are with the winter family, in that house, on the lake. Those memories prompted me to google the winter family again. I was happy to see that Roberta is married but didn’t find much on Will. I was shocked to learn the news about Ron passing though. This really breaks my heart. Anyway, I should say thank you for being a part of my life and to the entire winter family for giving me such wonderful memories. You guys will always have a special place in my heart.

Although we were only married for 2 years, these were the happiest 2 years of my life. Our ability to make each other laugh, to talk as equals, to love passionately, was something I never thought I would ever have or experience. My love, I miss you so.

We are devastated by the passing of our long-time neighbour and friend on Lake Boon. We have many wonderful memories of Ron and his many talents. We are happy to learn that he pursued his dreams and lived a peaceful and enviable life in Owls Head, Maine. Our sincerest condolences and love to Roberta and William and family.

You will forever and always be in my heart. My memories of you are strong and will never fade away. As a child, you taught me how to be strong and independent. Those are two characteristics that I will pass along to your grandchildren.

We had a unique relationship in the sense that you treated me as an equal and never expected anything less. From your push-up challenges to swimming across Lake Boon (I don’t believe I ever did it myself but I admired you from the shore!) to major house projects involving William and myself to personal development; you set the bar high. And we cannot forget that I get my rebelliousness from you!!! I will keep it PG-13: driving 100mph in your corvette, house parties (you may only have found out about one of... many), off-roading in suburbans, tattoos and piercings, etcetera. Does that count as confession? But you knew about those things.

Back to you. I’m not sure if a Thank You was ever said for everything you have given me. You once told me, during a rough patch in life where we had three-hour phone calls, that you felt as though you were not there enough for me during my childhood. I will say Thank You again. Because you were. You were my father, and you were there from my father-daughter dances in grade school right up to the custom-built nightstands for your grandchildren’s bedrooms. That is your way of giving a piece of you.

I love you, dad.
