Mab Ashforth

Mab, a wonderfully close friend at Dana Hall

To your husband and family, Mab:

I remember you as the beautiful girl who lived down the hall from Patsy Palmer and me at Dana Hall. We all defied as many rules as possible, protecting each other from the house mother (who taught French - badly) and her nit-picking mother. Yes, we were young and the little old lady was just trying to keep order in the house, but - impossibly critical of us at every turn!
We thought that no one at Dana recognized how smart you were, certainly they did not see how beautiful you were. I was shocked when someone else was elected May Queen our Senior year. Also saddened when you described your vacations, they sounded so lonely.

I was delighted to hear, later, that you were going out with Bo, because he was a friend of Bill Davis at Princeton, whom I grew up with in West Virginia. Glad you got to know Bill, one of my favorite friends.

We will all remember you in our own ways, a superior person who made lives better for all those around her. Rest in peace, my dear friend from long ago.
