OWLS HEAD - Donald Frost Hunt, 85, died Tuesday, November 28, at Sussman House in Rockport, Maine. Born and raised in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late George Pratt Hunt, Jr., and Reviola Kelsey Tillbrooke Hunt of Pittsfield and grandson of the late George Pratt Hunt, M. D. and Florence Patton Hunt, also of Pittsfield. Don was a graduate of Northfield Mount Hermon School and Duke University and served in the U. S. Army.

Don formerly lived in Salem, Massachusetts, for 40 years where he was a licensed insurance broker and agent. Upon retirement he and his wife moved to Owls Head in 1999. He leaves his wife of 58 years, Elizabeth Bowen Smith Hunt, his son, Jonathan Paul Hunt and his fiancée, Ronda Peterson and her daughter, Alyssa; his daughter, Laura Patton Hunt of Owls Head; five grandchildren, Joshua Gerard Hunt, Eleanor Miriam Hunt both of South Hamilton, Massachusetts, Jacob Raymond Chammas, Leila Virginia Chammas, Georgiana Laura Chammas all of Lowell, Massachusetts and Owls Head; his sister-in-law Lydia Kaeyer and her husband Richard of Owls Head and Lakewood Ranch, Florida; two nephews, Andrew Kaeyer and his wife Jill of Marblehead, Massachusetts, and Erik Kaeyer and his wife Gillian of Wilton, Connecticut; four grandnieces, one grandnephew and numerous cousins.

His family is grateful for the fine care Don received from the doctors and nurses at Pen Bay Medical Center, the staff at the Knox Center and Sussman House. We are also grateful to Carol Lee Mason and her therapy dog, Zuzu, and to Elizabeth McCusker Hunt and Ronda Peterson for their care, support and professional guidance during Don’s illness.

A life-long Episcopalian, Don was a parishioner of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Rockland. He was a life member of the American Philatelic Society and a member of the Maine and Massachusetts Audubon Societies for many years. He enjoyed his hobbies of stamp collecting and bird watching and his walks around his neighborhood, going to Crescent Beach and visiting with his neighbors along the way. He was also a longtime fan of the Boston Celtics, New England Patriots and the New York Yankees.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 30, 2017 at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 11 White Street, Rockland, Maine.
