Obituary for Mary Ellen Tucker

SOUTH THOMASTON & MARIAVILLE – Mary Ellen Tucker, 53, passed away at her home, Saturday, November 25, 2017.

Born in Ellsworth, September 18, 1964, she was the daughter of Malcolm ‘Friday’ and Margaret Stevenson Edgecomb.

She was known to many as Mary Ellen, Mellon, Tucka, Auntie M, and Mama Tucker, but Grammy Mary was her favorite. She was loved by every one that was lucky enough to meet her. She always loved an adventure. In her early 20’s she spent time traveling and working in Pittsfield, Massachusetts and Indiana. No matter how far she roamed, she always returned home. For over 27 years Mary Ellen has been employed with FairPoint Communications.

In 1987, Mary Ellen met the love of her life, Gary Tucker. Gary and Mary Ellen were married on September 9, 1989. They were blessed with three children, Michael and his fiancée Lindsey Taylor, Mitchell and his wife Becca, and Mackenzie Rose. She loved her children and their friends with her whole heart. However, when her grandson Landon Chase arrived, he was the light of her life. She truly lived the quote, ‘Family Matters’.

Mary Ellen is also survived by her mother, Margaret Edgecomb, her brothers, Rollie (Debbie) Edgecomb, Ross (Cammy) Edgecomb, Ralph Edgecomb; a sister Annie (Jamie) Perry; brothers-in-law, Alan Tucker, Jim (Heidi) Tucker; and a sister-in-law Lisa (Matt) Griffin. She will be greatly missed by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. She was predeceased by her father, Malcolm Edgecomb; her in-laws, Fred Tucker and Larry and Georgette Boynton; as well as a niece Rose Mary.

Mary Ellen lived life to the fullest, always wondering ‘Where’s the Party?’ She wanted to be sure every adventure included a stop for lunch. She loved to visit but never wore out her welcome as she couldn’t sit still long enough! She will be sadly missed by all who loved her.

Family and friends are invited to visit from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, November 30, 2017 at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland, where a celebration of her life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 1, 2017.
