Obituary for Thelma Lee "TJ" Jett (Overcast)

UNION - Thelma Lee Jett, 94, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away in Union, Maine on June 28, 2018, where she was living with her son and daughter-in-law Kerry and Andrea Jett.

Thelma was born in Hartshorne, Oklahoma on March 24, 1924 to Claude Ross and Anna Leona Overcast. She was raised with five brothers in New Mexico, later moving to the panhandle of Texas where she met and married J.B. Jett in 1946.

Thelma was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother. She was an amazing home cook and enjoyed collecting and sharing recipes with family and friends. She was devoted to serving her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in her day to day life and through her local church, Calvary Baptist Church, Idaho Falls, Idaho. Her dedication led her to teach 4 and 5 year old children about Jesus in Sunday School for over 50 years. She was officially recognized by the Southern Baptist Convention for her many years of service. She enjoyed bowling on a women’s bowling league well into her 80’s, spending time with her many friends, and volunteering at the Good Samaritan nursing facility in Idaho Falls where she visited with the residents and organizing monthly birthday celebrations.

Thelma is survived by her sons, Kerry Jett and his wife Andrea of Union, John Jett and his wife Gail of San Antonio, Texas; daughters, Patricia Cole and her husband Lonnie of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Shari Eraclio-Jett of Tucson, Arizona; as well as eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband J.B. Jett; and three brothers, William, Lawrence, and Richard Overcast. The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Quarry Hill Assisted Living, Camden, for their wonderful care and kindness.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, July 6, 2018 at East Union Cemetery, Miller Road, Union. Pastor Jamie Bickel of South Hope Community Church will officiate.

Arrangements are in the care of Burpee Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street Rockland.
