ROCKLAND - Katherine V. Geary, 67, died at her home, surrounded by her family, Saturday, November 18, 2017.
Born at Vinalhaven, June 25, 1950, she was the daughter of Charles S., Jr. and Joan Guptill Mitchell. Educated in local schools, she was a 1968 graduate of Vinalhaven High School, where she was a member of the ladies basketball team.

On September 14, 1968, she married William T. Geary at Pratt Memorial Methodist Church in Rockland. The couple made their first home in Rockland for a few months, and for the next 10 years resided on Vinalhaven. During that time Kathy devoted her time as a wife and homemaker.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star at Vinalhaven.

In 1977, Kathy returned to Rockland with her husband and children. For more than 20 years she worked with SAD 5 and ultimately retired in June of 2016, from RSU 13 as an Ed Tech.
Kathy enjoyed knitting, but was most recognized as one of the first aerobic walkers, greeting many friends and neighbors on her daily walks around the city.

A lover of ‘Good Old Rock & Roll’, Kathy was accomplished at dancing the twist and jitterbug. Kathy and Bill once won a dance competition at the Thompson Community Center in Union.

Kathy was pre-deceased by her father Bud Mitchell in 2012 and son-in-law Noel C. Robinson in 2015. She is survived by her husband William ‘Bill’ Geary, Sr. of Rockland; her mother Joan Guptill Mitchell of Vinalhaven; her children, Michael C. Geary and his wife Melissa of Belmont, Suzette K. Robinson of Rockland, William T.
