Obituary for Scott Spencer "Scotty" Gerry

Print
Rockland - Scott Spencer Gerry, 56 died Monday Oct 23, 2017 after a long, courageous battle with diabetes. He was born September 5, 1961 to Paul and Barbara Gerry at Knox county General Hospital in Rockland, Maine. He was a 1980 graduate of Rockland District High School and then decided to serve his country and join the US Army. Serving 4 years in Germany and two additional years in the reserves. He returned to Rockland and married Vicki Hutchins and raised 3 boys.

He worked as a baker for Dunkin Donuts for 20 years and was said to be one of the last “hand” donut cutters for that company. He loved the saying “Time to make the donuts.”

Scott had a passion for hunting and fishing and spending time at the camp on North Pond. He was an avid fan of ALL New England sports teams, the Red Sox being his favorite. Most Sundays were spent watching the Pats and the Red Sox with mom and dad. Always advising dad where to place his bets.

Scott truly loved life to the fullest exploring every opportunity, He would pack up his kids and go on an adventure at the drop of a dime. He was also a simple man not wanting for much, just the love of family and seeing his boys grow up to the fine young men that they have become.

He is predeceased by his infant brother Matthew Herman. Survived by his parents Paul and Barbara Gerry of Rockland, His sisters Dawn Pelletier and her husband Steve of Gray. Sharon Jordan and her husband Jeffrey of Camden. His three sons: Kyle his wife Taylor of Rockland, his son Matthew and girlfriend Danielle of Rockland. And his son Jonathan his fiance’ Destiny of Bangor.

Nieces and nephews, Meagan, Paul, Blakelee, Sam, Chelsea, Cody, Caleb and Andrew.

Last but not least his trusted companion, Salty the black lab.

A graveside ceremony for Scott will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 1st at 1pm at Achorn Cemetery, Old County Road in Rockland. To share a message of condolence or a fond memory with the Gerry family, please visit Scott’s Book of Memories page at www.bchfh.com.
