Condolences

Condolence From: Stewart and Mary Ellen Hoover
Condolence: We are summer residents of Maine and came to know Jeannette through the Broad Cove fall craft sale. She always stood out as such a lovely person. One year I saw a terrific man's sweater she had knit for an unbelievable price. The only problem was that it needed to be about 5 or 6 inches longer to fit me. I spoke to Jeanette about getting it made longer and she said it would be a just few dollars more of yarn and she would fix it for me. A few weeks later it arrived at our home in Massachusetts just at the right length. This sweater is what I wear day after day in the winter. It still has that great lanolin smell and each time I put it on I think of Jeannette and what lovely a person she was to first knit it and then make it just a little longer. It is a treasure and she was a treasure.

Condolence: Jeanette was a wonderful fixture of my childhood! Each summer I spent with my grandmother, Marie Manchester, who also took part in all things Broad Cove Church, I looked forward to running in and out of the back door at the church bringing things to and from Jeanette, who worked tirelessly in the kitchen while cheerfully shouting greetings and quips at church fair/bean hole supper goers. She was one of the town's strongest pillars and a person who made Cushing the place I wanted to live in when I grew up. And now I do and she will be missed! Condolences to the family but also congratulations to her for a 90-year life beautifully lived. :) Liz Vannah
