When Walt and Betty lived in Gray years ago Butch worked with Walt for W.E. Hall and son. That's how we met them and became friends. Butch and Walt bonded immediately because I think Walt reminded Butch of his Dad.(same personalities) We met Betty eventually as I think she was nursing at Maine Med at the time. She would come to our place to pick berries and leave a baggie of candy with me, in case she needed them, for her diabetes as she would scour the field next to our home for berries. She was a very caring lady and we became friends with her also. As we all moved away, we went back to Butch's hometown of Phillips and they went to Warren, but we always sent and received Christmas cards from each other. They came to see us a few times and we would try to make a summer visit with them each year, one time seeing them at their beautiful camp on the ocean. Also, phone calls to each other as Betty loved to hear what we were up to and fill us in on their family. We're very sorry to hear of her passing, so glad we visited them just a short while ago, and feel fortunate to have met her and Walt. We'll always remember her kind gentle way with people and animals.
