WARREN – Elizabeth L. Henry, 93, died peacefully, at her home, in the arms of her beloved husband of 72 years, and surrounded by her family, Wednesday, September 6, 2017.

Born in Rockport, November 9, 1923, she was the daughter of Eugene and Mary Gregory Fales. Growing up in Thomaston, Elizabeth was educated there, graduating from Thomaston High School in 1941. Following high school she attended Fisher Junior College in Boston, graduating in 1943.

Returning home in 1945, Elizabeth married her high school sweetheart, Walter Henry, at her family home on Elm Street in Thomaston. Ever the consummate homemaker, Elizabeth remained home while her new husband went overseas during World War II. When he returned, Elizabeth and Walter welcomed children to the family, and she spent her time caring for her growing family and gathering eggs at the family farm.

Entering the work force when her children were in school, Elizabeth started at the local fish factories, and moved her way up, eventually becoming a Medical Records Librarian. She began first with Camden Hospital, later working for a few private practices before retiring from St. Andrews Hospital in 1992.

In her spare time, Elizabeth loved tending her gardens, canning and sharing the vegetables, and took great pride in her beautiful flowers. She loved being outside, especially spending time at the family camp in St. George. Her grandchildren remember racing down the river with her driving the speed boat. She delighted in her grandchildren and they were the love of her life. Elizabeth also had a special place in her heart for the many cats and dogs she has loved over the years.

Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her best friend and soul-mate, her husband. The two were inseparable and she was happiest being wherever he was. Together they enjoyed many special trips, traveling to Panama, Alaska, Las Vegas and California, just to name a few.

Predeceased by her brother, Eugene Fales, Jr.; her son Arthur Henry; a granddaughter Emily Hathaway; and a great-grandson Shai Hathaway; Elizabeth is survived by her husband Walter Henry of Warren; her daughters, Patricia ‘Pat’ Monroe and her husband Charles of Warren, Beth Edwards and her husband David of Sanger, California; a daughter-in-law Theresa Henry of Warren; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Monroe, Daniel Monroe and his wife Julie, Andrew Henry and his wife Dee, Arnold Henry, Amanda Nickles and her husband Dwight, Amy Bulger and her husband Chris, Peter Hathaway and his wife Kristin, Sara Severson and her husband Mike; 14 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Elizabeth’s family has chosen to remember her life privately.

Arrangements are in the acre of Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland.
