Condolences & Tributes

So many years ago, and the memories are clear. During late 1950s, raking blueberries for the Orff business. There was Jeannette's piano at the farm on the hill in Cushing. Kendall and Jeannette allowed us kids to freely use the big pond just up the hill, for ice skating in the winters. Later, their smiling faces were seen at The Cheese House(became Cheese Wheel) on Route #1 in Wiscasset. Cushing has lost another face whose name has been part of its history. Condolences to daughter Nancy Rackliffe and her brother Lewis Orff. Back home is again one step removed from the way we old-timers like to remember it. How ironic that, just a week ago when I was in town and headed up the Cross Road hill I was tempted to pull into the farm and see if Jeannette was still there. Then, to read the notice - - sad. RIP, Jeannette; Kendall was waiting for you. Lawreston Crute

My favorite memories of Jeannette are the times I took the three girls over to the Talbot House for a surprise visit. She had such a beautiful face and it lit up like a Christmas tree. She was so happy to just sit there and be entertained by the kids. She just radiated love and joy and we couldn't help but love her. She will be sadly missed by many, but there was a special chair waiting for her in Heaven at a table with all the loved ones that she sadly missed. Looking forward to seeing her sweet face again one day. Love to all. xxoo
