Obituary for Geraldine Mae Roberts (McIntosh)

ROCKLAND – Geraldine M. Roberts, 88, entered Glory to be with her Lord and Savior, in the comfort of her home, Sunday, September 3, 2017, surrounded by the warmth of her family, following an extended illness.
Born in Littleton, Maine, April 7, 1929, she was the daughter of Sylvester W. and Jeannie Flewelling McIntosh. After moving to Gardner at a young age, she was educated in local schools.

Living out of state several years, she returned here in 1961. Gerry was first employed as a working Supervisor / Cook at Glen Cove Christian Schools in Rockport, and later as Cook at Bancroft School in Owls Head. For 11 years prior to her retirement in 1998, she served as Cook at Knox County Jail in Rockland.

Always a fervent Christian, Gerry was active in youth work and as a Sunday school teacher at various churches where she had been a member. Most recently she was a member of the South Somerville Baptist Church.
Other than her parents, Gerry was pre-deceased by a daughter, Rhoda Roberts; two brothers, Robert McIntosh and his wife Marie, and Sylvester W. McIntosh, Jr. She is survived by two daughters Donna Dancer and her husband Pastor John of Somerville, Linda Gibbons and her husband James of Jefferson Station, NY; a sister, Wilma Weed of East Pitston; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Friends and relatives are invited to visit from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 7, 2017, at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland, where a celebration of Mrs. Roberts life will be held at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow at the funeral home’s 104 Limerock reception center. Interment will be in Achorn Cemetery, Old County Road, Rockland.
