ROCKLAND - David O. Winslow, 67, passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2017, at his home following an extend illness.
Born in Damariscotta, March 14, 1950, he was the son of the late Robert and Paulina Chickering Winslow. He attended schools in Newcastle and Waldoboro until enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1969. At that time he served his country in the Vietnam War.
After being discharged from the Army, David had various jobs. He always said one of his most rewarding jobs was working alongside Bobby Williams at Brook's Monuments. In David's spare time he enjoyed playing online games, watching Judge Judy, and always looked forward to cheering on the Patriots at football season.
Besides his wife Christine Tower Winslow and their fur baby Lucy, David is survived by three children, Candi Tower and her companion Elbert Ranquist, Carrie Tower-Reid and her husband Peter, and Jason Tower and his companion Andrea Guy all of Rockland; a brother Edmund Winslow of Warren; a sister Lida Upham and her husband Albion of Warren, and his brother Michael Bennett with whom he recently reconnected. David is also survived by 11 grandchildren who were the light of his life and referred to him as ‘Pappy’, including Laci and her companion Kenny, Mya, Leon, Lamar, Trevor and his companion Alexis, Leo, and Gavyn, Jordan, Jasmine, Kennedy, and Jayla, as well as many nieces and nephews. He loved all his grandchildren but always had a special spot in his heart for his two oldest grandchildren, Trevor and Laci. David played a strong male influence in their lives.
