OWLS HEAD – THEODORE ANTONIOU SERVICE - A memorial service for Theodore Antoniou, 88, who died August 9, 2017, will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, September 23, 2017, at Rockland Congregational Church, 180 Limerock Street, Rockland. OWLS HEAD – Theodore Antoniou, 88, died Wednesday, August 9, 2017, at the Sussman Hospice House in Rockport, following an extended illness.
Born in Paterson, New Jersey, May 18, 1929, he was the son of Demetrius and Eugenia Vangiel Antoniou. He attended local schools and was a 1947 graduate of Paterson Central High School.
October 11, 1953, Ted married Irene M. Unger.
After serving an enlistment in the U.S. Army, he completed studies at Fairleigh Dickinson University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
The Antoniou’s lived in Paterson, until moving to Oak Ridge, NJ, in 1964. He was an active member of the Oak Ridge Presbyterian Church, where he served as Sunday School Superintendent and as an Elder.
The first 20 years of his career, Ted worked as a Production Manager with Inmont Corporation of Hawthorne, NJ, and the next 20 years with Vivitone in Paterson, NJ. He retired in 1993.
Ted and Irene moved to Owls Head in 2000. Since moving here, he has been an active member of the Rockland Congregational Church.
Other than his parents, Ted was pre-deceased by his brother, Michael Antoniou and nephew Raymond Mueller. He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Irene, of Owls Head; a son, Paul Antoniou of Morris Plains, NJ; a sister, Marina Pisano and her husband Dominick of San Antonio, TX; a nephew, Steven Pisano, M.D. and his wife Susan Pisano, M.D.; a niece, Lisa Pisano; a sister-in-law, Catherine Mueller and her husband Max of Hamburg, NJ, a nephew and his wife, Robert and Janice Mueller; a niece Lynn Mueller; a grand-niece and several grand-nephews as well as several extended family members.
Private burial will be in Laurel Grove Cemetery, Totowa, NJ. A memorial service to be held at the Rockland Congregational Church, will be announced at later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Abiding Memorial Fund, Rockland Congregational Church, P.O. Box 554, Rockland, ME 04841, or to a charity of one’s choice.
Arrangements are in the care of Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland.
