Obituary for Christopher Dunning "Chris" Lehmann

Christopher Dunning "Chris" Lehmann
CAMDEN - Family, friends and colleagues are mourning the passing of Christopher Dunning Lehmann who died unexpectedly on August 5th, 2017, in Rockland, Maine at the age of 48.

Chris is survived by his father, Larry Lehmann of Rockport, ME, his mother, Alice Lehmann, of Lancaster, PA, his brother, Blake Lehmann of Philadelphia, PA, his domestic partner, Katherine Sfeir, of Camden and his nephew, Elliott “Hammer” Lehmann of Philadelphia, PA. He is also survived by stepbrother Andy Brooks of London, UK, stepsister Kimberly Brooks, of Oak Creek, CO, and is preceded in death by his stepmother, Mariann Lehmann.

Chris was born in 1968 in Lancaster PA, and lived in North Carolina, Montreal, QC, and Pennsylvania during his formative years before graduating from Lampeter-Strasburg High School in 1987. During high school, Chris was member of various school bands, athletic teams and was an Eagle Scout. Chris graduated from Syracuse University in 1991 with degree in Communications and soon after moved to San Francisco to pursue music and to experience life on the West Coast. While in California, Chris had a remarkable career in the music business with several rock bands, and was a signed recording artist with a respected record label. During his time in San Francisco, Chris received training and self-taught himself several multimedia platforms such as filmmaking, editing, and production. Chris eventually found his way to Camden, Maine along the Mid-Coast region. In Camden, Chris used his multimedia skills and background to produce several documentaries and short films, and was a staff teacher at the Maine Media Workshops. For his work, Chris received two regional Emmys and had his productions aired several time on Maine Public Broadcasting Network. Still an avid musician, Chris continued playing music to score on films and played regularly with local area bands. During his life in Maine, Chris also became an accomplished sailor, was a boat owner, and was a member of the Rockport Boat Club.

Chris was a naturally helpful, organized, reliable and considerate person who leaves a giant glowing legacy of his experiences and interactions with other people throughout his life.

Chris deeply enjoyed being with family and friends, and would want everyone to mourn his passing with fond memories, good stories, laughter, dark humor, and a few good beers. He will be missed every day in the hearts of hundreds, and will not be forgotten. Arrangements are in the care of Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, Rockland.
