Obituary for Alice Smalley

Alice  Smalley
ROCKLAND – Alice E. Smalley, 86, passed away peacefully, June 29, 2017 at the Sussman House in Rockport.
Born in Rockland, January 31, 1931, she was the daughter of Anthony and Marie Monaghan Smalley. Raised here, she graduated from Rockland High School in the class of 1949.
For 32½ years Alice was employed with Maine National Bank, retiring from Fleet Bank, as an administrative assistant, January 29, 1993. During that time she successfully completed many banking courses with the American Institute of Banking.
Throughout her adult life, Alice devoted much of her time to the Rebekahs, serving in many offices including Past Noble Grand of Miriam Rebekah Lodge #33, serving also as treasurer of that Lodge, past District Deputy President Rebekah Assembly of Maine, Associate member of Mystic Rebekah Lodge #51 and past President Rebekah Assembly of Maine. She also held several appointed offices with the International Association of Rebekah Assemblies. Alice was a Past President Lafayette Aux. #18 L.A.P.M. and served as treasurer, Past President Department Association Ladies Auxiliaries and an Associate member of Ridgely Aux. #1 L.A.P.M. She held several appointed offices with the International Association Auxiliary Patriarch Militant. She was a member of Mt. Horeb Aux. #34 L.E.A. the Northeast Odd Fellows Association and was a past director of that organizations Camp NEOFA in Montville.
Since 1993, she was a member of the Littlefield Memorial Baptist Church, where she enjoyed the fellowship of the Over 50 Club.
Other than her parents, Alice was predeceased by her sister Adelma Lind, her brothers Kenneth Smalley, Donald Smalley and niece Gail Ann Lind. She is survived by her brother Robert E. Smalley and his wife Nancy of Lincoln; her sister-in-law Elaine Smalley of South Portland; four nieces and five nephews.
Visiting hours will be held from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland, where a funeral service will be held at 1:00pm Friday. The Reverend Mark Adolphsen will officiate. Interment will follow at North Parish Cemetery, Wiley’s Corner, St. George.
