Obituary for Betty P. Heal

ROCKLAND – Betty P. Heal, 81, died at her home, Monday, July 2, 2018, after a period of declining health.

Born in Rockland, November 12, 1936, she was the daughter of Percy L. and Lucy Harrington Porter. Educated in local schools, Betty was a 1955 graduate of Rockland High School.

July 2, 1955, Betty married John J. Heal in Rockland. The couple made their home in Rockland, where they raised their family and lived all their married lives. John passed away in 1998.

More than anything, Betty’s family was priority number one in her life. She particularly enjoyed attending her children’s and grand-children’s sporting events, spending time at the family camp in Liberty, boating, waterskiing, fishing, snowmobiling and going to snowmobile races.

While raising her family, she worked 20 years as an Office Manager at Bonner Vawter. She then continued to work for 17 years, until her retirement, as Administrator/Administrative Assistant with the Rockland Chamber of Commerce – work that she was always very proud of.

Other than her parents and beloved husband, Betty was predeceased by one grandson Shawn Heal in 2011. She is survived by her children, Alan and Pam Heal of Rockland, Caryn Heal of Rockland, John and Pamela Heal of Warren, Dana and Charlene Heal of Waldoboro, Steven and Renee Heal of West Rockport, Brian and Lisa Heal of Rockland; grandchildren, Debbie and Gary Gould, Dawn Heal and Eric Fowler, Jason and Jodie Heal, Jessica and Jeremy York, Ivy Heal, Raquel Traniello, Kayla and Brian McGinley, Maci Heal and Stephen Wilson, Travis and Kayla Heal, and Jennifer and Jesse Wilgus; and great-grandchildren, Pammie, Liam, Austin, Madison, Bryce, Owen, Emma, Colton, Brady, Connor and Grayson; her siblings, Carol and Steven Tolman of Rockland, Gary and Linda Porter of South Portland, Brad and Ellen Porter of Warren, as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family members.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, July 16, 2018 at Rockville Cemetery, Rt. 17, Rockland Street in Rockport. Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, New England Chapter, 10 Speen Street, 2nd Floor, Framingham, MA 01701.

Arrangements are in the care of Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland.
