Obituary for Joanne Davis

THOMASTON – Joanne Davis, 71, died from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident, Friday, June 16, 2017 at Maine Medical Center in Portland.

Born in Hope, September 8, 1946, she was the daughter of Joseph and Barbara Smith Leonard. Educated locally she was a 1967 graduate of Warren High School. Following high school, on November 25, 1967, Joanne married the love of her life, Walter Davis, Jr. in Warren.
A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Joanne worked tirelessly caring for the needs of her family. For several years she was employed with Burger King and later for seven years with Park Street Laundry in Rockland.

Predeceased by a son Walter, III in 1968; a grandson Shane Hooper in 1988; and a sister Bertha Church in 1980; Joanne is survived by her husband Walter of Warren; her children, Barbie Davis-Rose and her husband Bill Rose of Warren, Joe Davis and his companion Jessie Marie of Whitefield, Scott Davis and his wife Stephanie of Nobleboro; her sisters, Minnie Cushing of Warren, Fay Lash of Thomaston, Wendy Sidelinger of Waldoboro; her brothers, Joe Leonard, George ‘Harry’ Leonard both of Warren, Charles Leonard of Portland; her grandchildren, Amanda, Keagan, Kade, Arthur, Brandon, Baylee, Joe, II, Jacob, Natalie, Jaxson, Bentley, Jasmine, Madison; great-grandchildren, Saydee, Zoey, Marleigh, and Benjamin; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and a large extended family.

Family and friends are invited to visit from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland, where a Celebration of her life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, June 22, 2017. The Reverend Wayne Sawyer will officiate. Interment will follow at Leonard Cemetery, Warren.
