AUGUSTA – Dorothy M. ‘Dot’ Conway, 93, former Warren and Rockland resident, died peacefully in her sleep, Friday, April 14, 2017.

Born in Sidney, February 4, 1924, she was the daughter of Edward ‘Gene’ and Cecile Reed Skinner.
On June 4, 1949, Dot married Kenneth S. Conway in Kittery. Ken and Dot made their home in Rockland for 25 years, before building a home together in Warren. They resided there for 11 years before Mr. Conway’s death on February 24, 1985.

Prior to entering the work force, Dot enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving four years before being honorably discharged.

Dot began her working career with Goldsmith’s Sporting Goods, continuing with Economy’s Clothing Store. For over 54 years she was a dedicated employee, retiring in 2001.

Always active, Dot was a member of the Lady Lions. She enjoyed traveling, being outdoors, snowmobiling, and especially loved spending time boating and fishing at the family cottage on Crawford Pond in Union. She was an excellent cook always making sure there was enough to share. She was known for her annual yard sale that she spent the previous year preparing for. Dot loved to have fun playing cards whenever she had the chance. Dot was devoted to her grandchildren and they were the light of her life.

Predeceased by her husband; two brothers, Ralph Skinner, Arthur ‘Chummy’ Skinner; a sister Alice ‘Betty’ Hernandez; and one grandson Tobey Cramer; Dot is survived by her daughter Brenda Cramer of Rockwood; two grandchildren, Tracey Wing and her husband Andy of Augusta, Timothy Cramer and his wife Sara of Wilmington, NC; four great-grandchildren, Alicia Wing, Andrea Wing, Regan Wing and Brady Cramer; and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to visit from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 20, 2017 at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland, where a celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 21, 2017. A reception will follow at 104 Limerock, the funeral home’s reception facility. Interment at Shuman Cemetery in Waldoboro will be announced at a later date.
