Obituary for Patrica Ann Harper (Stanley)

THOMASTON – Patricia A. Harper, 80, passed away, Wednesday, March 22, 2017, surrounded by her family, at Knox Center for Long Term Care in Rockland, where she had been a resident the past two years due to multiple health problems.

Born on Swans Island, February 3, 1937, she was the daughter of Clifford L. and Myrtle M. Stinson Stanley. In 1947 the family moved to Rockland, where she attended local schools.

June 9, 1984, she married Sheldon R. Harper at Glen Cove.

Pat was employed at GTE Sylvania in Waldoboro for 29 years. After retiring from Sylvania, she earned certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She worked as a CNA at Knox Center, Quarry Hill, Kno-Wal-Lin and ASK Homecare for several years. She also did private duty care.

Throughout her life, Pat has devoted herself in the care of her family and extended family as well, seeing them through many difficult times. She enjoyed reading.

She was a member of the Williams Brazier American Legion Post No. 37 Auxiliary in Thomaston and the Rockport Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Other than her parents, Pat was pre-deceased by her son Dwayne R. Pease in 2012; three sisters, Norma B. Cannata, Shirley A. Stanley, Phyllis J. Hayes; four brothers. Russell L., Charles L, John A., and Lawrence W. Stanley. She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Sheldon Harper of Thomaston; a grandson Matthew Pease of Belfast; a sister Ethylen Philbrook and her husband Maynard of Cushing; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Kimball Pease of Rockland; two sisters-in-law, Patricia Stanley of Camden and Carolyn Stanley of Waldoboro, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pat’s family wishes to express their appreciation for the excellent care she received at Knox Center for Long Term Care and Hospice during her stay at that facility.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a local Animal Shelter or Charity of ones choice.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, May 18, 2017, at Maple Grove Cemetery, Duck Trap Road, Lincolnville.

Arrangements are in the care of Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland.
