BRUNSWICK – Barbara O. Moore, 90, entered eternal life in the comfort of her home, while beginning the day, Thursday, March 16, 2017.
Born in Topsham, November 17, 1926, she was the daughter of Earl L., Sr. and Gertrude Driscoll Ormsby. Educated in local schools, she was a 1944 graduate of Brunswick High School. While in her Junior year of high school, Barbara began employment with the Brunswick Times Record, where she worked until her marriage in 1946.
July 1, 1946, she married the love of her life, Chester F. Moore at LaPlata, Maryland. In 1948, the couple returned to Brunswick. In support of her husband’s career with First National Stores, Mrs. Moore lived in various Maine locations. In 1959, they settled in Rockport, where they lived until Mr. Moore’s death in 1998. In 2015, Barbara returned to Brunswick where she and brother, Gilbert, as support for each other, resided at Coastal Landing.
For many years, Barbara was an active member of the West Rockport Baptist Church where she served on the Hospitality and Flower Committees and was a Choir member.
Barbara considered her primary vocation to be that of homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother. She was devoted to all her family and never missed acknowledging a birthday.
Other than her parents and husband, Barbara was pre-deceased by one son, A. Stanley Moore and one brother Earl L, Ormsby, Jr. She is survived by two sons and their wives, Franklin L. and Cathleen Moore of Fort Lawn, SC, Ronald J. and Dayle Moore of Brunswick; six grandchildren, Suzanne and her husband Patrick, Gary, Bert, Heather, Emily and her husband Gordon, Russell and his wife Kassandra; ten great-grandchildren, Alex, Sonya, Madelyn, Damian, Wesley, Mathew, Crista, Christian, Triston and Dillon; three great-great grandchildren, Sophie, Caleb, and William, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Friends and relatives are invited to visit from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland. A Celebration of Barbara’s life will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, March 22nd, at West Rockport Baptist Church, Park Street. A reception will follow at the church. Spring interment will be in the Varney Cemetery, Brunswick. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to West Rockport Baptist Church, P.O. Box 221, West Rockport, ME 04856.
