Obituary for Kathryn Denig Winchenbaugh (Robbins)

ROCKLAND – Kathryn Winchenbaugh, 101, passed away peacefully February 23, 2017 at the Knox Center for Long Term Care in Rockland, where she was cared for by loving caregivers she considered as family.
Born at Port Clyde, July 8, 1915, she was the daughter of George and Gertrude Maloney Robbins. She attended local schools. As a teen, Kathryn worked at the clam factory in Waldoboro.
Moving to Rockland where she resided most of her life, Kathryn first worked at Perry’s Laundry, and later at Willow Street Bakery, making donuts. She also independently taught driver education for several years.
In 1959 she married Manual ‘Winkie’ Winchenbaugh in Rockland.

She enjoyed family trips to the White Mountains, family gatherings, and visiting her son, Roger, in New Mexico.

Predeceased by her husband, Winkie in 1986 and her son Roger Young, Kathryn is survived by her children, Wayne Young and his wife Peggy of Union, Gary Winchenbaugh of Scarborough, her daughter-in-law Sandi Young of Roswell, NM; her grandchildren, Michael Young and his son Logan, Hollie Kunesh and her companion Jason Thomas and their children Olivia and Riley Kunesh, and Nicholas Snowdeal, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

A graveside service, to be held at South Parish Cemetery in St. George, will be announced in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Knox Center for Long Term Care, Activities Dept. Memorial Fund, 22 White Street, Rockland, ME 04841.
